Why is Cedar Park such a Great Place to Live?

Active, Fun, Safe Lifestyle

Cedar Park Texas was named for an actual park filled with cedar trees that served as a late 1800’s rail stop on the way to Marble Falls.  The city now includes over 1,000 acres of  public parkland and 31 miles of trails for hiking and biking.

Cedar Park is also home to two professional sports teams: the AHL Hockey League Champion Texas Stars, affiliates of the NHL Dallas Stars; and NBA G-League Champions, the Austin Spurs – affiliates of the NBA World Champion San Antonio Spurs.  Both the Stars and Spurs play at H-E-B Center, a city-owned multi-purpose venue that holds up to 8,700 guests and hosts more than 130 events per year.

Cedar Park has had one of the lowest crime rates for cities of its size in the state, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s annual Crime in Texas Report.  The Cedar Park Police Department’s National Night Out has been awarded First Place in Texas for Cities of Similar Size.

Cost of Living

In 2021, finance site The Ascent (a service of The Motley Fool) named Cedar Park the Most Affordable Place to Live in the Country. This was due to the calculated cost of living being quite less than median family income – “Cedar Park’s cost of living index is 7.2% below the national average, while its median income is 17.8% above the national median, making Cedar Park our #1 most affordable place in the United States. In November 2020, Cedar Park’s unemployment rate was just under the national rate of 6.4%.”
