Which movies have been made in Round Rock?
2009 – Friday the 13th
Some of the scary scenes were filmed at this beautiful barn, which is, believe it or not, right next to the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express. Starring Danielle Panabaker, Jared Padalecki. Directed by Marcus Nispel.
2006 – Idiocracy
Starring Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Terry Crews. Directed by Mike Judge.
2006 – Friday Night Lights
Starring Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Kitsch.
2002 – The Rookie
The fictional Hurham Bulls home stadium was the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express. Starring Dennis Quaid. Directed by John Lee Hancock
2000 – Miss Congeniality
While the movie is set in New York and San Antonio, much of the film was shot in the Austin area, including an old Samsung office at the Round Rock/Austin border that stood in as FBI headquarters. That was convenient for Sandra Bullock – she lives in west Austin. Starring Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, William Shatner. Directed by Donald Petrie.
1984 – Blood Simple
Starring John Getz, Frances McDormand. Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen
1974 – The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The original location of the film’s shoot was on Quick Hill Road just outside of Round Rock, south of where La Frontera and SH-45 N is today. The house used for the shoot has since been restored and moved to Kingsland, Texas. Starring Marilyn Burns, Edwin Neal, Allen Danziger. Directed by Tobe Hooper.
