Adams Gifts and Home Decor

Adams was founded in 1978 in the Chisholm Trail shopping strip just off of IH35. In 1984, Adams built its’ own building in downtown Round Rock and relocated.

The business had its’ roots in bridal registry at a time when Round Rock was barely 10,000 people. Malls and big box stores were just sprouting up in Central Texas. Since those days the shop has continually moved forward to serve the changing needs of our guests.

We hand select unique gift & home décor pieces, offering these treasures to you at a great value which sets us apart from the mass retailers. Our guest service is unmatched. Guests are greeted with a smile. We offer gift wrapping, custom ordering and shipping, and are happy to carry your selections to your car. Our goal is to exceed your expectations every time you shop with us.

We work with local craftspeople and proudly serve as the sole source for Round Rock items.

Next time you want to make a special impression on that special someone, come to Adams.

Wine Tasting at Moon Dance Wine & Spirits

Last night Anne and I went to the Wine Tasting event at Moon Dance Wine & Spirits and got the chance to taste three red wines, Serenity Syrah, Stag’s Leap Petit Syrah and Diablita Zinfandel. Anne really liked the Serinity Syrah the best, but my favorite was the Diablita Zinfandel. The Oak undertones of the Diablita reminded me of my favorite Scotch, Macallen 12.

Below is a picture of Linda Cook, the owner at Moon Dance Wine & Spirits.

Linda Cook, Owner - Moon Dance Wine & Spirits

Stay tuned because I know that Linda and her staff will be having even more wine tastings in the future.

Greater Round Rock Community Foundation

We truly enjoyed or visit with Kami Barron, she is the Executive Director for the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation. Kami took the time to gently help us understand the scope of what this philanthropic organization is about. We are refreshed and gladdened to be aware of this generous foundation right here in the heart of Round Rock. Thank you Kami and Greater Round Rock Community Foundation of your support and love of the people of Round Rock and beyond.

Here is what they have to say about themselves…”We are a community foundation, a tax-exempt public charity that enables people like you to establish charitable funds. Your fund will be commingled with our other funds and managed professionally. Its assets will grow over time. You and your family and colleagues are encouraged to continue giving to the fund to help it grow even more. Grants will be awarded from your fund to support local projects, in accordance with your interests.”

Good Friday in Round Rock

Don’t forget that there is a lot of stuff going on in Round Rock this weekend.  Today Young Chefs Academy is having Lunch with The Easter Bunny at 1pm and then Moon Dance Wine & Spirits is having a Wine Tasting this evening at 5.

Anne and I won’t be going to lunch because our children are grown, but we will see you at Moon Dance at 5.

Also, many of the churches in town are having special presentations and services throughout the weekend, so do a quick Google search and have a great weekend!

Ambica Foods

Yet another Round Rock treasure. You gotta visit this Grocery store. They will greet you with friendly smiles. Enjoy some of their hot tea, complementary, of course. Also be sure to sample some of the unique snacks they sell by the pound. The entire store is packed with unique foods. You’re gonna love this place as did the shopper quoted below, who posted her experience to Yelp at http://www.yelp.com/biz/ambica-foods-round-rock

“I love cooking and because of my origin, I love cooking with spices more than anything else. So what are the spices you get in Ambica, pretty much most of the stuff that you will possibly use for Indian cooking like
– Cumin Seeds
– Coriander seeds
– fennel seeds
– mustard seeds
– Cardamom ( green and the black varities)
– sesame seeds (black and white seeds)
– Marjoram
– Anise seeds
– Asofetida
-Poppy seeds
– Dry/fresh ginger
– Dry/fresh turmeric
– Cinnamon
-black cumin (known as shahjeera)
and many more.. ..
This store like any other Indian store also carries all sorts of legumes
– Toor Dal (split chick pea)
– Moong Dal (split and whole green gram)
– urad dal (split white/black gram )
– Masoor dal ( split red lentil)
etc.. etc.

These guys have all these fresh… In addition, they have a awesome collection of veggies that you possibly can never get in any HEB or Whole foods , Central Market.. so if you get a chance go to this place on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. they get fresh veggies some time in the afternoon on Fridays.

Have fun cooking!!”

Water2Wine

Our winery is an actual wine-making operation, where all wines are fermented on site. With access to more than 100 wines from 13 countries and everything open for tasting, your taste buds can travel around the world without ever leaving our winery! Enjoy our wines by the glass, by the bottle, or we invite you to become the vintner and create your own batch of wine (28-30 bottles) complete with custom labels! All of our wines are significantly lower in sulfites and other chemicals than store bought varieties. If you know someone who reacts to even a glass of wine by getting headaches, stuffy nose or flush face, chances are they can enjoy our wines without the negative side effects.

Water2Wine is located in Sky Ridge Plaza, which is in the Northwest corner of Hester’s Crossing and Interstate 35, in the same shopping center as Sweet Love & Sugar Britches, HomeField Grill and Round Rock Uniforms.
